MS Dhoni must now be the happiest
man in the world of cricket. It is not only the 3 consecutive wins against
Australia, it is the composition of the winning Indian team added to his
personal form which has lead to his new found confidence.
Except for Tendulkar, the present
Indian team is full of new faces as compared to the team a year back. This was
precisely the new look team that Dhoni wanted to build. In Pujara and Kohli,
Dhoni has been able to find suitable replacements for Dravid and Laxman. If
Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay are able to consolidate their positions, then
Dhoni has suitable replacements for his bête noires Sehwag and Gambhir. If
Jadeja improves his batting, then the Indian team has an all rounder for the
no. 7 position. Also with Sehwag and Gambhir out of the Indian team, Dhoni has
no immediate challengers to his captaincy. The only department which is very
weak is the fast bowling department which is very essential in overseas tours.
As I said in my previous post
that the England and Australian series will be critical for Dhoni`s captaincy,
it looks like the Indian captain is again back to a safe position as compared
to the shaky position he was in even a couple of months back !
